Each nation has an Army. The Army has two levels, the non-commissioned and the commissioned Army. All gamers can join the Army as an uncommissioned officer.
They are given command of a Militia Company. A Company is the basic unit, consisting of fifty soldiers. Officers have to perform in battles and campaigns and pass exams to rise up to the rank of unrated Captain. As a Captain they can try to gain a commission from the Army Board, which consists of Generals and the Secretary of War.
The size of the commissioned Army depends on the budget that the government makes available. It is organized in different Divisions, consisting of Brigades, further divided into Regiments and Battalions. Captains can be promoted into a Regiment. They can upgrade their militia Company to Line Infantry, Guard Infantry, Light Infantry or Marines, depending on their Regiment and rank. A Major can command a Battalion, consisting of 6 Companies. Colonels can command a Regiment, consisting of 3 Battalions or 18 Companies. A Colonel can also command the strategic map, enabling them to place, move and engage Companies on the battlefield during warfare. Ultimately an officer might make it to the General ranks, commanding Divisions and joining the Army Board. Generals are chosen from the noble classes. The government decides on war or peace, the Army Board decides on Army strategy. They set campaigns, sieges, protect ports and suppress rebellions.
