After more than two months of work for the artists the ‘teaser’ for Rulers of the Sea is finished. The teaser is a necessary element for a YouTube campaign, and can also be used on other media. Finishing this material takes us to a next phase of the campaign.
This video is not yet a game trailer, as we don’t have enough game play design elements in a 3D environment yet to create this. A trailer will take longer to produce. The teaser shows a ‘look and feel’ and a quality impression of the project. It is meant to draw the attention of the right people to the project, hopefully making them support it and join the community.
The teaser show game design elements in objects, a successor to the slides of historical art images that were used before on the website. In addition we appeal with music and voice, suggesting the theme of re-writing history.
We also use a version of the teaser as a rotating video loop on the home page. Showing moving 3D imagery on the homepage instead of slides shows much more ambition and gives an instant impression that aims to impress. However, active video on a web page is also demanding, so we will monitor the performance closely.
We hope you enjoy the teaser and its theme, and share it as widely as you can. Please share and like the YouTube version below, as the more views and likes we get, the more it will feature on different sources, drawing people to the community.

We owe a special thanks to Anson Weese, our Canadian based artist, for the creation of all the brilliant 3D art.
