The Rulers of the Sea trailer is an ambitious project to create a first proper trailer for Rulers of the Sea. We aim for a professional trailer that expresses the quality we wish to invest in our project, but as we are in a pre-funding phase this is not a simple thing to achieve.
The project is not yet in the phase where we can show a game-play demo. The size of Rulers of the Sea means that we need a lot of development before we can show actual concept game play. This trailer is a first step.
The Trailer is going to show the concept and intention of the design of the game. This is comparable to the banners we show on the website right now that serve to explain the features of Rulers of the Sea in the most accessible form. Pictures and words.
The trailer (it can also be called a teaser) aims to do exactly that, but in a much more impressive way. The camera will zoom around six compositions showing different aspects of the game. Compositions with unique historic objects, arranged in the style of 18th century paintings. The presentation aims to be a work of art.
We will use the trailer initially as an ad campaign on social media channels such as YouTube, opening a second community campaign drive. Versions of the trailer will also be used to improve this website homepage. Objects in the trailer will also be used as demonstrations of themes and as future game objects.
Our second trailer will aim to take a step back and show more of the world of Rulers of the Sea, but that will take a longer time to develop.
We thank our progress on this true piece of art in a large part to Anson Weese, our talented Canadian artist, assisted by Johanna Meehan and Florien Born. The visual part of the trailer is now entering the editing and sound phase.
If you want to follow more about the progress, we post regular updates in the Art Blog on the website forum.
