Just celebrating the beautiful costumes for government characters made by Giorgia Vincenzi over the past half year already justifies this news post. But they are also interesting historical studies.
In the game gamers can take the positions of government in a nation, and apart from politics and power, costumes, showing off your station, are just as important!
In the generic game model there is one system of politics and government, so there is the need to make all the different nation cultures fit within this one model. This is not entirely historically realistic, but then again, all nations had governments, it often fits quite well.
The design team (and especially Anne-Marie Smit) have spent a lot of time researching costumes and finding the best cultural fits to match up with the government positions. And it is already turning out to be a beautiful collection of diverse and amazing costumes.
We pride ourselves on trying to get the historical mid 18th century costumes as close to reality as possible, and each collection produces some amazing results.
In the end we will not portray each of the many in-game nations accurately, but opt for cultural groups. Otherwise it is just too much. But already you can see that the sheer diversity of costumes is richer than any fantasy genre game. Often history simply exceeds all imagination.
We’re a long way from completion of the government costumes (or sets), but we encourage you to keep an eye on the progress in the forum or in the Art Gallery (link).
